At 3 P.M. on Sunday, April 15th, a multi-generational group of guests began arriving at the Villa Medici Clubhouse in Ft. Myers, dressed in colorful, authentic costumes of their native or ancestral countries. Guests brought a traditional dish, which was later judged by three impartial judges. Cognizant of the fact that there is a lot of feeling of self-esteem wrapped up in a food entry, the judges were as objective as possible, finally selecting the three winners.
“It was no easy task”, remarked Suzi Hosfeld, one of the judges. “All entries were excellent”.
Ultimately, taste plus originality, were the deciding factors. Monetary gifts were given to the winners which brought forth a lot of cheers and clapping for the lucky entrants. Now it was time to dine.
What is a party without some fun and games, music, singing and dancing? There was plenty of each. A talented duo sang ethnic songs accompanied by guitar. Rich, proud voices filled the room with singing. It wasn’t long before infectious tape music had a gyrating group of dancers swaying and shaking, relishing every delicious move on the improvised dance floor.
In case you’re wondering who deserves kudos for this idea of food, fun and frolic, her name is Maria Flemmer of Luxurious Florida Realty. com.
